This year, in addition to our Sunday morning services of the Advent Season, we will be doing a Midweek Advent Devotional each Wednesday at 7:00pm with Pastor Matt Doan.
Our prayer is that the truth shared each week will stir your heart’s affection and mind’s attention toward the coming of Jesus Christ.
Connect on Calvary’s Facebook Live and join the conversation. (You do not need a Facebook account to watch – only to like, comment or share.)
What is Advent?
Advent is a word from the Latin “adventus” which means “coming” or “arrival.” The coming of God’s promised Messiah is the eager expectation and longing of God’s people.
In the Advent season, we look back to remember and celebrate the Incarnation—the first coming of Jesus in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. The Bible tells us the good news of God’s great gift in His Son Jesus. He came from heaven to earth to rescue us from the curse of sin and death, showing us the way to find new, true, full and eternal life.
We not only look back in celebration, we also look forward in longing to His second coming in glory and the completion of the story began so long ago. We have a sure hope that one day He will come again to reign and restore all things.
